Idaho Libraries Rock!
Thank you Idaho libraries for a fantastic summer reading program! You registered 63,230 children and teens for summer reading in 114 communities. That's a 38% increase over 2008. Idaho libraries also expanded summer reading in their communities to serve 20,700 kids through outreach at summer nutrition programs, summer school, daycares and other community sites.
The Commission supports summer reading because we know that children who read over the summer will maintain or improve their reading readiness when they go back to school. We also know that libraries and kids go together! Join us in the summer of 2010 to "Make a Splash" for kids birth to 11 and "Make Waves" for ages 12 and up. The 2010 manual will arrive at your library in October.
