Each year, the Collaborative Summer Library Program provides us with materials to use in our Summer Reading programs. As a participant in this program, we have access to these items for a predefined time period and that time has passed for 2009.

Idaho Kids Get Free Books

The Idaho Commission for Libraries is pleased to announce the receipt yesterday of a $15,000 grant from the Fred Meyer Fund for the “Books for Summer Readers” project. One hundred eighteen Idaho public libraries applied by the May deadline to receive free paperback books to distribute to their summer readers. Approximately 6,200 children will receive books.

United We Serve (originally Summer of Service) opportunity for libraries

The American Library Association (ALA) is working with the White House, in partnership with the Corporation for National & Community Service, to get libraries involved in a national volunteer initiative that will run from June 22 to September 11, 2009.

        Vote for Idaho’s Recommendations for the 2011 and 2012 Summer Reading Themes

        Idaho librarians have the opportunity to make their voices heard by voting for Idaho’s suggestions for upcoming summer reading themes. The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) has asked each member state to send their top five suggestions for the 2011 kids theme and 2011 teen theme using the topic World Culture/Travel.
